I was born in East London and completed my education at A W Barnes and John Bisseker Senior Secondary. I completed my Diploma and Advance Certificate of Education at Rhodes University. My BEd Honors I did with Fort Hare University. My Early Childhood Development course I completed at the Carmel Training Centre in Israel as well as the Early Childhood Development Centre in Cape Town. I trained the Practitioners at Primary schools in the Diploma for Grade R on behalf of the Department of Education with SANTS. I taught at a Primary School as a Foundation Phase educator. I serve on the church council as well as community organisations.

Also on the Organising Committee, Local Organising Committee and Finance Committee of the World Diabetes Congress held in Cape Town. President of Diabetes SA. Member of the team that drew up the guidelines for non- insulin diabetes mellitus (type 2 diabetes ) for the national department of health.

Chairman of DSA East London Branch and executive member of Diabetes South Africa. An Executive of the Khanya Youth and Community Development Centre.
